Expectations of Residents

EXPECTATIONS OF RESIDENTS

Preparing for a hurricane restoration project requires careful planning to protect personal property from damage. Here are the steps that condo unit owners can take to prepare for such a project:

Secure Valuables: It is important to secure all valuables and personal belongings in a safe and secure location. This may include jewelry, important documents, electronics, and sentimental items.

Take pictures: Take pictures of your personal property before the project starts. This will help you to document any damage that may occur during the project. Coastal will be taking photos of each unit for our documentation as well.

Cover furniture: Cover furniture and other items with plastic sheeting to protect them from dust and debris. It is usually best to move the furniture away from the perimeter walls and use painter’s plastic to cover the furniture in the center of the room. This will also make it easier for the workers to access the areas needing repair without having to move your personal property. If you need assistance moving certain items, we will be happy to help.

Protect Floors: Floor protection will be handled by Coastal. We will protect a path through the residence in order to prevent any damage to the floor finishes.

Additionally, here are some responsibilities that condo unit owners should be aware of during the hurricane restoration project:

  1.  Access: During the restoration project, the workers will need access to your unit to repair any damage. You must provide access as needed and make arrangements for your pets or any other potential obstacles to be taken care of during this time.
  2. Safety: During the restoration project, there may be some safety hazards, such as construction debris or equipment. You must follow all safety instructions provided by Coastal and keep children and pets away from the work area. We will give you plenty of notice before we commence work on your unit.
  3. Communication: If there are any concerns or issues that arise during the restoration project, you must communicate these to a Coastal representative. This will help to ensure that the project is completed to your satisfaction.
  4. Patience: Hurricane restoration projects can be complex and may take some time to complete. It is essential to be patient and understanding during the process and to work with Coastal to ensure that the project is completed successfully.

By being aware of these responsibilities and following the steps outlined for preparing for the hurricane restoration project, condo unit owners can help to ensure that their personal property is protected and that the project is completely successful.
